This Lunchtime Talk will be broadcast live on Watershed's YouTube channel.

David Smee reflects back on his career, from his first product innovation being rejected by BT in 1994 to finding a 'proper job' with a Winchester-based digital technology company in 1995, that snowballed into a successful 15-year career as an intrapreneur and product manager where he conceived and launched many memorable products and worked on many more that never saw the light of day.

David went on to work with Bristol university spin-out, ProVision Communications. He followed this with projects and positions within the likes of Bath University, Reach Robotics, VRGO, Mad Catz, ReTrack and Folium Optics with his own 'accelerator' company, Kick Sum.

Finally, delivering on his entrepreneurial origins and embracing his passion for customer research, technology and innovation with a meaningful ambition for animal conservation, he set up AniBotics (animal + robotics). The company is developing a new toy-based EdTech pedagogy for 6 to11-year-old children, providing an engaging and enjoyable way for them to become more aware of the magnificence of animals and the diversity of their habitats.

David became a Pervasive Media Studio resident in 2019 to help nurture and develop this idea and looks forward to sharing his journey with the studio community.

Join us on Fri 21st May, 13:00-14:00 for the talk and to take part in the discussion afterwards.
