Make Shift Meet Ups are a space for early career creatives to come together in the Pervasive Media Studio to connect with people making, working, and doing in creative industries, on the first Tuesday evening of each month

In November we are joined by the wonderfully talented artist, theatre maker and convenor, Tom Marshman.
Tom has been producing works for 21 years, exploring music audio tours, theatre production and cabaret.

An overarching theme in Tom’s work is LGBTQ+ experiences. His work activley encourages dialouge with participants through socially engaged processes like “Tea Parties”, glimpsing at every day life to tell unpretentious stories, particularly those omitted through archival silence.

In this thoughtful session, Tom will explore the tension between storytelling as a means for placemaking, and storytelling for (or with) communities. Tom is particularly interested in what is ‘gained and lost’ from each of these,  thematically, but also practical considerations around comissioning and touring works.
