Marcin Gawin
Marcin Gawin is an interdisciplinary artist working across traditional and new media.
Marcin Gawin (b. 1994, PL) is an artist working across traditional and new media. Drawing from a background in live art, their practice explores themes of embodiment and posthumanism, investigating how speculative narratives can reimagine the body as a site of transformation and potential. Utilising interactive media, installation, and image construction, Marcin creates immersive environments situated in artistic institutions as well as nightclubs and DIY spaces. Their work invites viewers into realities that blend sacred atmospheres with body horror and science fiction, offering an engagement with the uncanny, the abject, and the wondrous experience of being - and having - a body.
Marcin Gawin holds an MA in Virtual and Expanded Realities from UWE and is a resident of the Pervasive Media Studio for Creative Technologies in Bristol, UK. They are a recipient of the Immersive Arts Expand Fund and hold a Studio Award from Onassis ONX. Marcin has presented work in galleries, museums, and festivals including BWA, Wrocław (PL); CPH:DOX (DK); Volksbühne (DE); Sheffield Doc/Fest (UK); VSSL Studio (UK); and Modern Art Oxford (UK).
