Mandy Rose - Collab Docs
Research in Documentary & Social Media
Launch Event
Pervasive Media Studio
July 17th 4.00 pm
Mandy Rose has recently joined the Digital Cultures Research Centre at UWE as a Senior Research Fellow under the AHRC’s Creative & Performing Arts Fellowship Scheme. Her practise-led research project Collab Docs explores what happens when Web 2.0 meets documentary production ?
Mandy has an outstanding track record in participatory media. She was co-founder and producer of BBC 2’s Video Nation project – 1994-2000, and, as Editor of New Media at BBC Wales has overseen award winning web-based projects including the Capture Wales Digital Storytelling project, Voices and My Science Fiction Life.
Mandy will introduce her work with some examples of past productions before going on to discuss her forthcoming project. Her research explores the role of the documentary director working online with remote collaborators. What were formerly documentary subjects may become co creators; Mandy’s work with the DCRC will begin to identify what new forms of documentary will emerge from this process.
Please do come along to meet Mandy and join us after for refreshments.
