Liam Taylor-West is a composer and audiovisual artist who works primarily with live musicians and new technology. He holds a doctoral degree in composition from the Royal College of Music in London, and has worked with several orchestras including regular collaborations with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
In this talk, Liam looks at how the lineup of the orchestra has changed over the years, as well as how it hasn’t. He focusses on the work being done by two Bristol-based organisations, Paraorchestra and the National Open Youth Orchestra, to reimagine orchestras as more inclusive ensembles that enable the participation of musicians with disabilities.
Join us online on YouTube Live, or in the building on Friday 29th November 2024 at 1pm for the talk and to take part in the Q and A discussion afterwards.
