Russell is a theatre maker and creative technologist based Bristol and London.

He specialises in making live performances that aim to be totally distinctive and stretch or challenge the way people see the world. Sometimes that is innovative new work, sometimes radical reimaginings of old texts. It is always made through working collaboratively with a wide range of artists, research specialists and advisors to explore the most exciting, involving and accessible way of telling each particular story. This has led to a range of projects from new writing and devised work in theatres, outdoor and site-specific performances, immersive performances in primary schools and technology-driven live projects.

Russell was Creative Associate at award winning arts-producers Penned in the Margins from 2015-2022 and is artistic director of theatre and technology company Potential Difference.

As a Creative Technologist, he is interested working with technology to create new sorts of live experiences that give audiences new sorts of agency in experiencing a story and expand the possibilities of what theatre could be or could do. He draws on 15 years experience of full stack software development experience and has experience in web application development, front end development, Unity, video streaming technologies and more.
