It's a game played from a child’s perspective that emphasises co-operation rather than competition, so the two players have to work together to building dens as safe spaces to hide away from the kissies. As well as being fun to play, Wonzie World gently teaches that it's important to listen to children's wishes and it's okay to say no if you won't want to be kissed, even if it's a grandparent. The intention is also to create intergenerational connection and conversation through fun and playful content and encourage gentle conversation about body autonomy. Wonzie World was initially supported by the UK Game Fund, was selected by UKIE as one of 15 games to be in the UK Game of the Show at gamescom2020 and appears on the Family Gaming database.
Wonzie World is inspired by my grandchildren. As any parent knows, some children would rather run away and hide than kiss their grandparents, and as a granny, I found it so funny I made a game about it.
