Angelica Allen is a vocalist, producer, and sound artist working under the name My Midnight Heart. Her practice explores the intersections of identity, motherhood, and technology, with the voice as her central instrument. Using looping, granular processing, and spatial sound, she creates immersive vocal landscapes that blur the line between the synthetic and the sacred.

As a mixed-heritage Puerto Rican and Black American artist now based in Bristol, Angelica’s work often draws from the experience of being culturally unmoored. Her music reimagines the voice as both material and metaphor — a way to reclaim space, build belonging, and transform personal histories into shared sonic environments.

Angelica has toured internationally, supporting artists such as Solange, Blood Orange, Tegan and Sara, and Foxes, and has performed with acts including Dua Lipa, Escort, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Her debut EP was praised by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, SPIN, and NPR. Recent self-produced releases have been featured by Clash, Earmilk, and Wonderland.

Her development as a producer and independent artist has been supported by organisations championing underrepresented voices in music: Femme House, Saffron, and Sound and Music. These programmes have helped her expand her practice, deepen her creative autonomy, and return to releasing and performing with new momentum.

Currently, she is developing new immersive projects, including a speculative VR installation that allows participants to grow sonic landscapes from her processed vocal loops. Her residency at the Pervasive Media Studio marks a new chapter in her practice, expanding her exploration of sound, identity, and belonging into interactive, collaborative forms.
