Jenny Grinsted

Figuring out what a child-centred publisher looks like and creating books that fuse words, pictures and technology.

Jenny Grinsted is a storyteller and content developer with a focus on interactive and illustrated children's books. She previously worked at the BBC, Penguin and Parragon Books.

Alongside being a Pervasive Media Studio resident she develops content for Bristol-based tech company Ultrahaptics and is an education campaigner and director of Educate Together UK – an academy trust with a unique values-based and ethical curriculum that runs a number of primary schools in the Bristol area.

Jenny is co-founder of Babinko, a new children's publishing company with a research-based and child-centred ethos. Babinko straddles the boundary between words and pictures, concepts and actions, physical and digital and looks for ways that these can enrich each other, and enrich children and parents’ experiences.

Part of Babinko's ethos is also to bring books to all children by donating books at the same time as selling them. Research shows that the simple act of regularly reading transforms children's lives, yet over 700,000 children in the UK own no books of their own.
