Kate is a researcher and creative technologist with a particular interest in physical computing.
She has a background in immersive performance forms, which continues to influence her practice. She is now interested in using physical computing to create experiences which offer different ways to see the world. She’s interested in using technology to look at interactions between people, how art can facilitate connection, and form new relationships with the world around us.
Following a Curiosity Residency at Pervasive Media Studio, she is currently working on a project about embodied navigation, looking at how we can take directional guides off screens and transmit signals about possible directions of travel through the body. This project also looks at navigating to people rather than places and what it feels like to be drawn towards someone. Inspired by animal migration and indigenous modes of wayfinding, Kate’s work looks at expanding the possibilities of how we navigate space and how we feel through our bodies.
