Watershed is excited to be a partner in MyWorld, a project led by the University of Bristol that will celebrate the West of England's reputation as an international trailblazer in creative technology and screen-based media.Miles is part of pyka a collective who build technological artefacts that enable people to explore the worlds of sound. pyka are on the More Than AI Sandbox as part of the MyWorld Ideas programme. They will be taking part in a 3 month creative research and development programme where they are prototyping a new concept that creatively and critically explores artificial intelligence. They are working on the project 'The Expression Orchestra.'
In 2015 Miles cofounded pyka - a collective of producers who design and create technological artefacts, structures, and spaces that enable people to explore worlds of sound. Their participant and engagement branch - pyka_workshop - has designed and delivered creative education programmes for ages 3-25. To date, pyka_workshop have worked with over 250 schools and supported over 25000 learners and staff in Wales and England. Aside from strategy and management, Miles has a particular focus on the coding and deployment of tools for creative expression and immersive experiences, all with their roots in sound.
Miles is an alumnus of University of Newport, University of Gloucestershire. Miles is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and has led multiple modules in 3 institutions at undergraduate and postgraduate level focusing on Innovative Sound Practice.
Miles frequently uses openFrameworks, c++, arduino, pure data, and has experience in other languages and processes such as computer vision, spatial audio, and AI among others.
