Chris Petit's cult classic is one of the most striking feature debuts in British cinema – a haunting blend of edgy mystery story and existential road movie.
Mark Cosgrove, our Cinema Curator says:
"My first memory of Bristol was driving over the flyover which used to connect Temple Way to Redcliffe in the late 1980s. As I came level with the 2nd floor of the Grosvenor Hotel I thought this is like being in a Wim Wenders film. I had not yet seen Chris Petit’s 1979 road movie Radio On which goes from London to Bristol and which was shot by Wim Wenders’ assistant camera man Martin Schäfer. Viewed now Radio On is a time capsule cultural journey with music from the likes of Devo, Robert Fripp and Ian Dury."
