Developing tools for cultural relevance in physical and virtual conversations

In this Lunchtime Talk we are joined by studio Residents Imwen Eke and Camille Aubry with technologist Takita Bartlet - collectively called Across the Room - to explore the role of digital tools in creating cultural relevance in both physical and virtual spaces - starting with the inclusion of Black African and Caribbean voices.

In this time of the pandemic, people are looking to technology to find more ways to connect, stay informed, commiserate and entertain themselves. This has the potential to redefine conversations and participatory experiences.

Motivated by the idea that we should all take a more intentional look at what we’re creating and how, Residents Imwen, Camille and technologist Takita Bartlet will be interrogating new ways of developing digital facilitation tools that can be applied to virtual spaces, live events, training simulations, and entertainment solutions and exploring inclusively designed immersive/interactive experiences that appeal to new customer markets that the mainstream does not capture.
