We're off to see the wizard!

Judy Garland stars in this iconic and timeless family favourite, beginning in the sepia soaked Kansas, with Dorothy Gale dreaming of somewhere new. Her wish is answered with a sudden twist of fate as a tornado carries her and her little dog Toto to the incredible and colourful land of Oz.

A pioneer of Technicolor which was nominated for six Oscars® and won two (Best Original Song for the classic Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Best Original Score), this enchanting story accompanied by a number of instantly recognisable songs has drawn audiences of all ages for 85 years.

So, follow Dorothy along with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion as they overcome trees that throw apples, sleep inducing poppies and a wicked witch on their quest to find a brain, a heart, some courage and a way home.

This screening is presented by UWE MA in Curating student Dáire Carson currently on placement at Watershed and part of Other Ways of Seeing, supported by BFI awarding funds from National Lottery.

A 4K restoration c/o Warner and Park Circus.
