Both premieres will be followed by a live satellite Q&A with cast and crew that you can take part in via a special Twitter dashboard on the cinema screen – you will see questions and comments from audiences in other cinemas throughout Europe and contribute your own. So no need for a plane ticket to Holland - you can be part of the festival scene from right here in Bristol!
Melody is our first IFFR Live! premiere - Danish coming of age comedy Speed Walking is the second and screens on Tue 27 Jan at 18:00.
Melody (Lucie Debay), a homeless young hairdresser, agrees to bear the child of high flying older London executive Emily (Rachael Blake) in exchange for enough money to realise her dream to start her own hair salon in this brilliantly performed drama, (the two leads shared the Best Actress award at the Montreal Film Festival). Holed up in Emily’s country home, the two women warily circle each other as Melody’s pregnancy advances and their relationship passes through doubts, suspicions, affection and bewilderment before the secrets of both their pasts return to haunt them: Melody’s abandonment as an infant and Emily’s struggle with cancer. Will history repeat itself?
