In Conversation with Sharon Clark, Creative Director of Ice Road
Lunchtime Talks
Please note: This event took place in Oct 2017
Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.
For this special lunchtime talk we are joined by Studio resident Sharon Clark from Raucous, the immersive theatre company behind last years The Stick House. The Stick House was described by Bristol 24/7 as ‘like theatre you’ve never experienced before’. Sharon will be joining us to talk about her current show, Ice Road, an ambitious, theatre piece harnessing Russian folklore and historical witness accounts. Ice Road fuses performance, creative technology, original music, film and aroma to tell the story of the children war leaves behind.
In conversation with Studio Producer, Verity McIntosh, Sharon will discuss, the making of immersive theatre and narrative in ‘found space’, in this case the old Jacob Wells swimming baths, with a focus on film, projection mapping, music and digital technology.
Join us to discuss what creative challenges she and her team faced and what considerations needed to be given to the network of collaborators and to the audience?
The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk
