Deaf Conversations About Cinema: First Man
Please note: This event took place in Oct 2018
Hot on the heels of their Oscar®-winning smash La La Land, director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for First Man, a completely riveting story about the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) and the decade leading to the historic 1969 Apollo 11 flight.
The 17:20 screening on Mon 15 Oct will include Descriptive Subtitles and an introduction by independent film blogger and critic Sven De Hondt and a post-show discussion with other audience members. The introduction and post show discussion will both feature simultaneous BSL (British Sign Language) interpretation.
From 20:00 please join us for Deaf Conversations About Cinema, an informal discussion about the themes of the film in the Café/Bar featuring simultaneous BSL (British Sign Language) interpretation (Deaf and hearing audience members are both most welcome). You’ll receive 10% off drinks with your cinema ticket – so grab a glass and let us know your thoughts about First Man.
Extra DS screenings over the weekend of Fri 12 Oct - Sun 14 Oct
Due to the running time of First Man (2hrs and 18 minutes) the DS screening on Mon 15 Oct has to start early at 17:20. We know this may be a bit early for some people to make but don’t worry, we have also programmed DS screenings on Sat 13 Oct at 17:00 and Sun 14 Oct at 19:20 so you can come to one of those screenings if the Monday time doesn't work for you.
