What to Expect
Taking over the whole of the Undershed gallery, designed for Quest 3, Impulse uses mixed reality – blending the physical and digital - to immerse players into a gameplay with very personal narratives where you can experience the intensity, creativity and individuality of each of the four stories.
When you arrive, you enter the welcome area. A gallery assistant will greet you, talk you through what to expect, and answer any questions. You can leave your possessions here if you wish.
Once inside the main gallery space, the assistant will help you with the VR headset. The experience includes a game where you use the controllers to move virtual items, as well as four animated documentary stories from real people about living with ADHD. These stories are at times emotionally intense, reflecting complex and challenging moments from their lives.
After finishing the experience, a gallery assistant will be present to help if needed. You can spend time in a quiet reflection space, looking at comments, documents, images, and other visitors’ responses. You are invited to contribute your own thoughts, but this is optional. Reading material about the creation of the piece by Anagram is also available.
The full experience, from arrival to departure, takes around one hour. Gallery assistants will be on hand to support you throughout.
