Stories, interactive gadgets, and a rather eccentric Shed-keeper await you… come along and be surprised!

Storyshed will be at ‘Music and Dance from Around the World’ at Grove Park (Weston Super Mare) on 10 and 11 July, 12-6.30pm.

Storyshed has been produced by Theatre Orchard (North Somerset) with funding from Mediabox, North Somerset’s Find Your Talent, and support from Watershed. From February to March 2010, students from Priory School, Weston-super-Mare, and adults from Somerset Racial Equality Council’s Friendship group created Digital Stories – short personal narratives combined with photographs, drawings and sound to create a short film – with project Development Co-ordinator and Studio resident Liz Milner, Clodagh Miskelly and Paddy Uglow. Between April and June, Tarim, Pervasive Media Studio’s 'Wizard of Jiggery Pokery ', worked with another group of students to make 'Story Gadgets' - objects that related to the stories but also had an interactive element.

These objects, along with the digital stories – screening on a laptop – plus some photographs taken by the students and made into small books, are inhabiting a bespoke shed, designed in association with Somerset Wood Recycling which is currently (July 2010) on a miniature 'world tour of North Somerset', transporting visitors into other realms with personal stories that surprise and enrich - a celebration of home and away and a crossing place for both.

Storyshed is part of a wider Theatre Orchard project – Windfalls – that highlights and celebrates cultural diversity in North Somerset. Find out more at: www.theatreorchard.org.uk
