Join us for IGLAB 02, the Interesting Games Lab!

IGLAB started life in the Pervasive Media Studio back when it first opened in 2008. After a few years off, it's now back, thanks to support from Watershed, for an exciting new series of games and experiments. We would love for you to join us for the second of six events produced by our friends at Free Ice Cream.

IGLAB is a place to test and play games - games that are played in the real world rather than via a console or screen, games that are social, definitely fun, and possibly a little bit absurd. It's a testing ground for those who have a game idea they want to try out on people, and it's also a place for people who want to play new games.

There are three ways to get involved:

Want to help the game designers set their games up? (it's a great way to meet new people in a fun social setting). Come to the Pervasive Media Studio from 17:30 - 19:00 to help out before the games begin.

Just want to play? No problem, arrive at the Pervasive Media Studio from 18:45.

Some games will be played outside some will be played inside, they can be sedate or high-octane and we'll confirm what we'll be playing on the night closer to the date.

We'll be playing until about 21:30. You are welcome to bring drinks into Pervasive Media Studio from Watershed's Café/Bar.

Game Designers! Want to bring a game? If you want to try out a game on a bunch of enthusiastic people who will give you feedback Iglab is the place to do it. Simply email us before booking a ticket to tell us your idea, and we'll see if we can programme it.

For this series we're looking for game submissions that explore any of these three themes:

  • Whose Rules? A feminist approach to play,
  • What Lies Beneath: What games tell us about the rules of the city,
  • Seventh Sense: Games that give you superpowers.

You absolutely don't have to be an established game designer - as long as you've got a good idea, we want to hear about it.

Hope to see you on the night - let the games begin!

IGLAB is supported by Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio, the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.

NOTE: booking for this event is essential, even if you are a Studio resident. Tickets are £5
