Furaha Asani (she/her) is Pervasive Media Studio's research lead, looking after our brilliant small team of 3 creative producers and action researchers, and project co-managing Watershed's delivery on various programmes including MyWorld, Bristol+Bath Creative R+D (now concluded), Connecting through culture as we age (now concluded), and Alternative Technologies: A Just Transition. Furaha is a researcher, writer, and teacher, and is passionate about responsible R&D, healthcare equity, migrants' rights, the art of the memoir, and science in pop culture. You can find out more about work she's done on her website.

In this lunchtime talk Furaha will be sharing some learnings that emerged from the Alternative Technologies: A Just Transition co-produced enquiry; speaking to how this work was conceived at Watershed's café/bar between herself, Dr. Erinma Ochu (whose funding via the Natural Environment Research Council's Engaging Environments supported this work), and the studio's exec producer Jo Lansdowne; our self-nomination methodology for participant invitation + selection, workshop programming, outcomes, outputs (including this multimedia blog), and legacy (including Watershed's policy on reparative rest leave). Themes covered in this talk will echo those that ran throughout the entirety of the enquiry including: water and its various roles in our lives and histories, climate action and its intersection with creative technologies, and methodologies for co-creating caring communities of practice.

In preparation for this talk, we invite you to enjoy this playlist co-created by the delivery team and participants of Alternative Technologies: A Just Transition. These songs were selected based on asking everyone to reflect on, and suggest songs that capture the essence and memories of the enquiry: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4P9oCkfdhqSj7e8LGPMllX?si=FIGM5gQmRb--EPYFIkrZEQ

Join us online on YouTube Live, or in the building on Friday 13th December 2024 at 1pm for the talk and to take part in the Q and A discussion afterwards.
