In this Lunchtime Talk, Author and Screenwriter Nikesh Shukla and Illustrator Camille Aubry will be talking about their comic book collaboration Mad Villain, a comedic thriller, an absurdist noir, a superhero origin story about rising fascism, direct action and desperate people. The main character is Sanjay, a middle-aged father of two who has a midlife crisis and joins antifa so he can stop racism. They will talk about how they worked together to bring the series to life in a political landscape where reality is meeting fiction.

About Camille

Camille Aubry is a French Bristol-based illustrator. Social and climate justice, as well as care and accessibility, are core values of her practice where she strives to amplify marginalised voices. Camille became a permanent resident in December 2019. She uses illustration as a tool to enhance connection and audience immersion. Her purpose as an illustrator is to demonstrate that it is a powerful and versatile discipline, an art form in its own right - not just visual content.
