Studio resident Geraint Ffrancon has been commissioned by Local Journeys and the National Trust to create location-aware music compositions for their ‘Channel Weather Symmetry’ project, which is grant-funded by the PRS Foundation and others through the Beyond Borders scheme. The project was based at two National Trust locations either side of the Bristol Channel – Rhosili (Wales) and Brean Down (England). Geraint collaborated with photographer and filmmaker Nicky Brown to produce both a record and response to the weather as it rolls up the Bristol Channel during 2011 & 2012. Listeners with GPS-enabled smartphones were able to hear the compositions whilst wandering the headlands.
