Alison Oldfield is an independent researcher and writer working in the areas of childhood, education, disability and digital technologies. Hailing from Michigan, USA, she has called Bristol her home for the past decade. Her previous lives as teacher in the Galapagos Islands, youth worker, project manager and researcher at Futurelab have formed her current interests in developing inclusive practices, technologies and environments and understanding the effective participation of children and young people in design and decision making. She has been fortunate to work on recent projects like the iDEA Award at Nominet Trust, Shaun’s Game Academy with Aardman Animations, technology-enhanced assessment at University of Bristol, and an action research project on the involvement of Young Coaches in REACT’s Play Sandbox. She is also currently working on a PhD looking at children’s experiences in natural environments.
