classified 12A SWinner of the Panorama Audience Award for Best Feature Film at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, Eva Libertad’s film is a delicate yet assured debut feature about a woman on the cusp of motherhood.
Ángela (Miriam Garlo) who is Deaf, eagerly awaits the birth of her daughter with partner Héctor (Álvaro Cervantes). But nestled within the excitement lies trepidation. Will the baby be Deaf like her mother or hearing like her father? Anxious that her daughter will be subject to the alienation she often feels, Ángela is confronted with long-held questions about her own identity whilst she learns to mother in a society lacking adequate accommodations for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
