Epic Games with no Code – Platforms for Designing StoryWorlds
Vincent Baidoo has been exploring the expanding universe of software & apps, asking the question - can games creation become more like AV, where tools for production & design are in the hands of the many, not the few?
Studio Resident Vicent Baidoo joined the studio on for a short 'micro-residency', aiming to develop a game plugin that would give people with no experience of coding the chance to make their own games. In this talk he discusses the fundamental changes that may occur to the landscape of gaming as we know it, if non-gamers would begin to create their own personalised games?
With an aim of creating StoryWorlds as vast as Disney and Shonen Jump, Vincent will share his personal journey of making unique games without knowing how to code. Having come to game design after publishing a number of his own comics and animations, Vincent will also look at the distinctive impact of narratives launched through different forms of media, whilst offering insight on the tools currently available to Transmedial producers, as well as the scope of future possibilities.
This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.
