Emma Bettridge is Bristol Old Vic Ferment Producer, and for the last 8 years has been the driving force behind Ferment, an extraordinary testing ground supporting artists to develop and share experimental work at an early stage. We have known Emma for many years, and are endlessly inspired by her ideas and approach to developing talent. We have invited her to join Studio Managing Producer, Verity McIntosh in conversation to discuss this Summer's extraordinary cohort of artists, and to reflect on the last eight years as Ferment Producer.

About Ferment

Bristol Old Vic Ferment centres on artist development, with a focus on representing the South West's vibrant community of theatre-makers and supporting and develop exciting and adventurous new work.

Ferment creates a playful structure through which the best artists can explore theatrical ideas in an ongoing dialogue with audiences. Emma has worked with a huge variety of artists encouraging experimentation and exploring the theatre of tomorrow.

Ferment Fortnight runs from July 9th – July 21st for more info and tickets go here.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.

Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.

Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.

After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.

Let us know if you’d like a tour of the space and we'll be happy to show you around just before the talk. Email studio@watershed.co.uk to book your place on a tour.
