Dave currently works with sound and livestreaming and is exploring how objects and spaces can be given voice. His work reframes the livestream, usually associated with efficiency or entertainment, as an expressive opportunity in an attempt to tackle the complex problem of hierarchies of social and…'Investigating a Domestic Vocal System' is the title of the proposal presented for the Winter Residency 2024. During the residency I hope to build on my practice around sonfication and livestreaming to explore how spaces can be given 'voice,' opposed to simply making sound or noise. I have been livestreaming the sounds of mundane domestic tasks over the internet since 2022 as part of Peripheries. This project has raised questions around audibility, who or what is allowed to make noise, and how livestreaming potentially offers an opportunity to disrupt these conventions. I will be making blog posts as part of my residency to share my research:)
