Lunchtime Talks

Live stream

Please note: This event took place in Dec 2021

In this Lunchtime Talk, Studio Resident Tine Bech will discuss her work creating social interaction and colour in public spaces. More than ever, our shared public spaces and town centres have the opportunity for change. At a time of rapid reflection, we should ask what place can and should be in the future?

Using examples from her practice, Tine will share ideas on the importance of ‘visual invitation to social interaction’ and will explore how play encourages audiences to move from looking to active participation.

Tine will share 'This Place in Colour' a R&D digital project that will allow people to see the environment around them through colour, using a smartphone camera. It is an action research project that aims to give people a voice and a website and manifesto for a place. It is also a tool to play and enable thoughts and feelings about a place that sometimes can be hard to articulate.

Tine Bech will be joined by Tarim, the technologist behind the creation of the web-app and the technical colour interface for 'This Place in Colour'.
