A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film.
Following the sudden death of his mother, a mild-mannered but anxiety-ridden man, Beau Wasserman (Joaquin Phoenix) confronts his darkest fears as he embarks on a Kafkaesque odyssey back home. Along the way he meets new characters and people from his past - but will they be a help or a hindrance as he undertakes the (relatively simple) task of getting to his mum's house?
Directed and written by Ari Aster, best known for his A24 horrors Hereditary and Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid promises to be a wonderfully weird feature that explores internal anxieties and mommy issues.
