Ryota Miyagi's life has always been intertwined with his passion for basketball. His love for this sport was passed onto him by his older brother Sota, who died in an accident at sea when Ryota was still very young.

As point guard on the Shohoku team, Ryota and the gang have gained a spot on the Inter-High national high school basketball tournament, despite being relatively unknown.

Together with his teammates, Ryota is prepped and ready to face the unbeatable Sannoh, who are the champion team of the local tournament.
