Come See Me in the Good Light
classified 18 (CTBA)"This is the beginning of a nightmare, I thought... my worst fear come true. But stay with me... because my story is about happiness being easier to find once we realise we do not have forever to find it." - Andrea Gibson
A joyful, poignant and unexpectedly funny love story which follows acclaimed poet Andrea Gibson and their partner Megan Falley as they navigate life, love and mortality in the face of Andrea’s terminal cancer diagnosis.
Through poetry, vulnerability and humour, the film presents a tender roadmap for living and loving fully – even in the face of the most challenging conditions. With every verse and moment shared, Andrea and Megan illuminate the power of language to embrace grief, grace and radical joy. Through laughter and unwavering love, they transform pain into purpose, and mortality into a moving celebration of resilience.
Directed by Ryan White and backed by executive producers Tig Notaro, Brandi Carlile and Sara Bareilles, this Sundance Festival Favourite Award winner is a moving exploration of connection, legacy and what it means to face the end with open arms.
The Sat 15 Nov 18:00 screening is presented in partnership with Bristol Butch Bar, who will introduce the film and then invite you into our Undershed Gallery space afterwards for Good Light Gathering, a chance to be together for a gentle evening of tea, hugs, soft seating, and a DJ.
Bristol Butch Bar is a DIY queer community group. They meet up on the last Tuesday of the month with an aim to create solidarity and community for Butchness - women/non binary/trans - and celebrate their joint gender, non-conforming histories together. Follow them on Instagram @bristolbutchbar for the latest meet up info.
