We’re delighted to present a special screening of Eyeshine and The Hearing on AI Prophet, two moving image works by Korean artist duo Bang & Lee. Both form part of their ongoing series The Prophet in the Darkness.
The series envisions a near future ruled by Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), where autonomous systems make decisions for humanity. But when an unexplainable event disrupts this perfect order, the AI begins to doubt its own certainty, sparking a crisis of belief.
Eyeshine (2025) 11 mins
A 3D animation that revisits the obscure moment that triggers the hearing—a fleeting encounter between logic and conscience. The work questions how AI perceives time, remembers, and decides.
The Hearing on AI Prophet (2025) 62 mins
A three-channel 3D animation staged as a self-governing trial led by artificial intelligences debating prediction, judgement and moral responsibility.
About the project
The project draws on cutting-edge research in neuromorphic computing, Spiking Neural Networks and event-based vision. Blending science and philosophy, The Prophet in the Darkness transforms technical innovation into poetic reflection on AI, time and morality.
Originally produced and shown in Korean in 2023, Eyeshine and The Hearing on AI Prophet have been newly remade in English in collaboration with Watershed and using CAMERA's motion capture facilities.
The project is supported by Arts Council Korea and MyWorld.
Introduced by Bang & Lee, who will discuss how their art bridges science, technology and society and how AI reflects back our own moral and emotional complexity.
