It's summer, 1984. Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike. At a Gay Pride march in London a group of gay and lesbian activests decide to raise money to support the families of striking miners but there is a problem... the Union are embarrassed to receive their support. Undeterred, the activists up sticks and drive to a mining village in deepest Wales to offer their donation in person. And so begins an extraordinary story (based on true events) of two seemingly alien communities who form a surprisingly - and, ultimately, triumphant - partnership. With a stellar cast including Bill Nighy, Dominic West, Andrew Scott, Paddy Considine and Imelda Staunton, this is a funny, bittersweet, moving, and candy coloured piece of LGBT history that is going to be a huge hit - trust us.
