An audio project that is inspired and informed by cinematic notions of story and longing. Here, you enter a phone booth where strangers leave messages for a lost love: maybe someone or something from their past, something that they're still aching for, that maybe never existed outside their own dreams.
Do you think about a lost love? A kiss that only happened in your mind, but still broke your heart? A passing stranger you imagined a moment with but it plays in your mind on repeat? A place or thing you miss that leaves a hole in your heart? Or just something you didn’t dare to reach out for? Perhaps they keep you up at night and merge into your daydreams? Do you want to tell it to a stranger and release it?
The Lost Love Hotline is open. Leave us a message. We won’t answer, but we will listen.
To take part, simply seek out the Lost Love Hotline in Watershed's Café & Bar from Mon 3 - Thu 13 Nov, and enter the phone booth. Dial 1 to listen to someone’s message, or Dial 0 to leave one.
The Lost Love Hotline will keep your story safe in their archives among other lonelyhearts and release it at moments for others to listen to in the phone booth, or on the Lost Love Hotline website and Instagram. Each message becomes part of heartbreak archive, a collection of raw confessions, warped truths, spectral yearnings, and unresolved monologues.
