Our toilets are for everyone
Watershed is Trans+ Inclusive. We believe that everyone should be able to access cultural provision in a way where they can truly be themselves.
We will continue to offer excellent, free to access public toilets which meet a range of needs and access requirements. No one will be asked to evidence their sex in order to use our facilities.
Changes to the EHRC’s statutory Code of Practice came into effect on 5 August 2026. We welcome ongoing legal challenge to the code and will continue to raise our voices with others against the discrimination and confusion it creates.
We have made a few temporary updates to our signage and provision which centre clarity and inclusion (all of our main toilets are still Trans+ inclusive). The full policy and equality impact assessment will be reviewed by our Board of Trustees at their next meeting in the Autumn.
What toilets does Watershed provide for the public?
Top Foyer
- Fully enclosed and lockable cubicles. Four have integral washbasins. One is a large self-contained lockable single-occupancy rooms with baby changing facilities. Can be used by everyone
- One fully enclosed and lockable accessible toilet with integral washbasin and baby changing facilities. For disabled people of all genders
Café & Bar corridor.
- Two blocks of cubicle toilets with baby changing facilities. One is a block of toilets with cubicles and one has cubicles and urinals. We are working with contractors to better enclose these cubicles. Can be used by everyone
Cinema Corridor
- One fully enclosed and lockable accessible toilet with integral washbasin and baby changing facilities. For disabled people of all genders
- Two self-contained lockable single-occupancy rooms at the back of Cinema 2 & 3. Designated as single sex, one male and one female.
Pervasive Media Studio
- One accessible self-contained lockable single-occupancy room. For disabled people of all genders.
- Two blocks of cubicles: a sign denotes one as a block of toilets with cubicles and a sign denotes the other having one cubilce and urinals. Can be used by everyone
No one will be asked to evidence their sex in order to use our facilities. If you have witnessed an incident of harm taking place in Watershed toilets, you should report it to the Watershed Duty Manager.
Harassment by visitors and audience members directed at others will be treated in line with our code of conduct and may result in warnings, banning or reporting to the police, depending on level of severity.
