Set in Welsh Valleys against a backdrop of racial tension, industrial unrest and the anti-Jewish riots of 1911 it tells the story of Solomon (Ioan Gruffudd) a young Orthodox-Jewish man who falls in love with local girl Gaenor (Nia Roberts). Gaenor is from a family of strict chapel-goers and Solomon conceals his Jewish identity from both Gaenor and her family. When they discover she is having a baby, both their families are determined to keep them apart.

Solomon and Gaenor is passionate love story which explores forbidden love, prejudice and fear.
