Play writing workshop: Scene building

Play writing workshop: Scene building

Watershed Recommends: Fri 12 - Thu 18 June

Streaming + Live stream

Please note: This event took place in June 2020

A free online play writing workshop facilitated by Sharon Clark, Pervasive Media Studio resident and Creative Director of Raucous.

This workshop - brought to you by Papatango Theatre Company and Weston Library - is open to playwrights of all levels, although beginners might get more from it than more experienced playwrights.

The workshop will focus on scene building. Scenes are used to tell stories on stage, they are the building blocks of narrative, provide structure and are the vehicle by which characters are revealed.

So what do you need to think about when writing scenes? How do they help with storytelling? What are the regular pitfalls that you might encounter? What are the elements of each scene that are vital? In a relaxed online workshop environment you will explore scene building through the work of established playwrights, with a variety of writing exercises to help you think about how each scene should work within the play.
