"Elder's Corner is essential viewing for those who would like to learn more about Nigerian artists who were superstars at home but never achieved the international fame of a Fela Kuti or King Sunny Ade" Arts Fuse (2020).

Inspired by his extensive record collection, director and musician Siji Awoyinka travels back to Nigeria in search of the musical icons who were part of the ‘highlife’ & ‘juju’ eras, who roll back the years remembering their youthful selves. Both bruised and ignited by political unrest, migration and colonialism, they give moving oral testimonies and studio performances, demonstrating how deeply embedded the role of music was and continues to be in their lives. Taking us from the birth of Afro-beat to the mid’ 70s, this film is a joyful celebration of some of the most influential music to come out of Africa.
