Directed by Kayano Takayuki, this heart-warming comedy provides a genuine yet comical portrayal of the lives of individuals who can’t let go of their possessions.

A promising pianist, Ritsuki develops unexplained hand tremors, forcing him to abandon his musical career. Devastated, he seeks a new path in life. He finally gets a job at a clearing service for hoarder houses. With the help of a quirky boss and dedicated colleagues, Ritsuki’s cleaning career begins seemingly without faults. However whilst confronting mountains of clutter, he unravels dark secrets behind the clients he encounters.

Comprised of multiple interconnected narratives, the film conveys these stories with humour and emotion, shedding light on the lives of people on the fringes of Japanese society.

The UK’s largest festival of Japanese cinema, the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2024, returns to Watershed with its biggest showcase ever, another exciting lineup showcasing the versatility and uniqueness of Japanese cinema. This year's theme is Unforgettable: Memories, Times and Reflections in Japanese Cinema.
