Make Shift Meet Up Feb 2025

Make Shift Meet Up Feb 2025

Event + Drop-in

Please note: This event took place in Feb 2025

Make Shift Meet-ups are a space for early career creatives (aged 18-30-ish) to come together in the Pervasive Media Studio on the first Tuesday evening of each month.

Each month we are joined by someone working, making, or doing exciting things in creative industries to share some of ther experiences and tips, and you can ask them some questions too.

For the first Meet Up of 2025, we have the wonderful Nik Rawlings; Singer, Composer and Sound Artist who creates spatial and immersive music, performances and installations.

In 2021 they developed Breathing.Systems, a fluid, mediated and granular experience of gender, embodiment and neurodiversity. The performance used a bespoke wireless multi speaker sound system worn on the bodies of performers, an attempt to create a network of live voices and a communal sound body to sing through.

At the Meet Up they'll explore some ideas on how to get started in spatial sound & music, share their experience making immersive sound works that are really about movement, and we'll delve into '"why it's important to know what you don't need to know" when working with creative and immersive tech.
