Join us as we say goodbye to Furaha Asani, who after nearly five years as Research Lead at Watershed will be taking on new adventures. This Lunchtime Talk will take a slightly different format, with Talent Development Producer Tony Bhajam in conversation with Furaha. Together they’ll reflect on a range of topics: from Watershed’s inclusive recruitment process (Furaha was one of the first team members hired through it), to some of the fantastic projects and enquiries the research team have led over the past five years. This is part of a year long theme at Watershed where we are exploring the idea of Home.

About Furaha
Dr. Furaha Asani joined Watershed as Research Lead in November 2020. With a background in Biochemistry and Immunology, she has woven together a career spanning public engagement, creative production, public scholarship, and research leadership. Within Watershed, Furaha has shaped research strategy, supported project delivery, and line managed a brilliant team of action researchers and creative producers. Beyond the Studio, she’s an award-winning teacher, public speaker, writer, mental health advocate, and outspoken anti-racism practitioner. You can explore Furaha's work here.

Furaha is deeply grateful for her time with Watershed, the Studio community, and our wider network—and hopes to stay connected as she enters her next chapter.

Please come along to wish Furaha all the best in her next chapter. There’ll be doughnuts*, vegetarian samosas, and gluten-free cake slices. Feel free to grab a tea or coffee from the kitchenette and settle into our events space; soft seating will be provided, and there’ll be time for Q&A.

We’ll ensure no doughnuts with nuts are included, but can’t guarantee against cross-contamination. If you have a nut allergy, please let us know by emailing furaha.a@watershed.co.uk so we can provide a suitable alternative.

Content warning: Conversations may touch on topics including mental illness, racism, the hostile environment and borders, sickness, death, and epistemic homelessness.
