Rainbows, Crystals, Lights: Family Creative Technology Workshop

Workshop

Wed 15 April 14:00

Pervasive Media Studio

This February half-term, we're excited to invite young people aged 8–14 and their grown-ups to a special workshop with one of our Winter Residents, Alison Stott.

The workshop will burst with colour as we explore light, rainbows, crystals and light technologies in response to the film Arco. You'll even have the opportunity to create your very own time-travel cloak.

About our film offer

This workshop is inspired by Arco, a beautiful hand-painted animated film screening as part of our family programme during the Easter holidays. Imagine if rainbows were time travellers…

In 2075, a ten-year-old girl, Iris, witnesses a mysterious boy in a rainbow suit fall from the sky.

It’s Arco. He comes from an idyllic far future where time travel is possible. Iris shelters him and will do whatever it takes to help him return to his own time.

Workshop bookers can receive 15% off film tickets if they book them at the same time.

About Alison Stott

Alison is one of four creative practitioners joining Watershed and Pervasive Media Studio as part of the Winter Residency Programme, an opportunity to develop bold early-stage ideas through creative technology in response to the theme If These Walls Could Talk.

Alison’s practice explores the spaces between art and science, craft and technology, glass and light, and material process and lived experience.

During the residency, Alison will develop an immersive light and sound installation that listens to a space and reveals its living rhythm. The work explores a shared heartbeat that emerges through presence, participation and resonance.

  • Enjoy 15% off tickets to Arco when you book the film alongside this workshop.
