After living a carefree life in the queer tourist haven of Maspalomas, 76-year-old Vincente suffers a stroke. Necessity sends him to a care home, where he is made to repress his sexuality. Furthermore, he must face his shortcomings as a parent while reconnecting with his estranged daughter.
Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi’s tender Basque-language drama beautifully contrasts the uninhibited freedom of Gran Canaria with the emotional confinement of San Sebastián. With extraordinary honesty, depth and sensitivity, Maspalomas is a life-affirming ode to hope, proving it’s never too late to fix the past.

This screening will include an introduction from Queer Vision.
