The matinée audience of a Spaghetti Western are locked in the cinema by the police after one of the patrons dies during the film. A perplexed inspector interviews audience members one at a time and begins to realise most of them are being evasive for one reason or another. The inspector decides to recreate the moments leading up to the death. With everyone sat at their seats he gets the projectionist to run the film again to try to work out what really happened. But will this shot in the dark reveal the real killer?

Originally made for Italian television Montaldo’s playful thriller is like a mix of The Twilight Zone and an Agatha Christie murder mystery with a Spaghetti Western twist.

With thanks to RAI.
