Bristol has been an UNESCO City of Film since 2017, but Bristol and cinema have been entwined since – some would say before – the beginning of moving pictures. Join local enthusiast and historian Mark Fuller for one of three gentle weekend walks.
The Sunday walk kicks off with a look at Everyman Bristol and will work its way down Whiteladies Road and Park Row to Broadmead and give you a guide to some of the historic sites of cinema in central Bristol, and the personalities, from the 1880s to the present day. Ideal for a little exercise (all walks are flat or downhill from their starting points), and what passes for fresh air in central Bristol, before settling down for the cinematic wonders of Cinema Rediscovered.
Both weekend walks are discrete from each other; but for the most complete story of Cinema and Bristol, come to both!
Walk 3 on Sunday will start opposite Everyman Bristol (formerly Whiteladies Picture House) at 09:00, near Clifton Down Shopping Centre (Buses 1, 2 and 4 from the Centre) and finish near The Galleries at around 10:30.
Weather allowing, there will be visual aids to help illustrate the talks at each stop.
