Once a great Roman General, Maximus (Crowe - who is also starring in our 35mm screening of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World) is forced into exile and slavery by Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) the jealous heir to the Emperor's throne.

During his captivity, Maximus trains as a gladiator and returns to Rome, intent on avenging the murder of his family by killing Commodus, now the Emperor. Ridley Scott's Gladiator arguably revived the ailing genre of the historical epic with its sure pacing, on release it was described as 'the first proper stab at the genre for 40 years'.

Cinema seat widths

Our cinema seats are 46cm wide, with wooden armrests on either side of each seat that can’t be moved.

We can provide seats without armrests or bean bags as alternatives at the front of the cinema if that is more comfortable for you. Please just call our Box Office on (0117) 927 5100 or book in-person to arrange.
