Notes from the Underground dir. Adrian van Wyk, Chris Kets
Notes From The Underground traces the inter-generational Hip Hop movement of Cape Town, spanning four decades from the 1980s to the present day. At the heart of the movement is self-knowledge. In Cape Town, this becomes a means to reclaim culture, rewrite erased histories, and forge new identities in the aftermath of colonialism and apartheid.
Through personal stories from different generations and neighbourhoods, the film reveals how Hip Hop has transcended music to become a powerful tool for self-discovery, activism, spiritual awareness and community empowerment.
Amigo the Griot dir. Kurt Orderson, Mario Laaistock
Amigo the Griot is a musical documentary directed by Mario Laaistock and award-winning filmmaker Kurt Orderson.
Set in Eersterivier, Cape Town, the film blends intimate personal storytelling with a visual language inspired by music-video aesthetics, unfolding at the intersection of memory, sound, and lived experience.

This screening will include an introduction from Afrika Eye and will be followed by a Q&A. More details coming soon.
