Danish director Janus Metz serves up this story of the epic rivalry between Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg and his biggest rival, the brash American John McEnroe, which came to a head in the 1980 Wimbledon final.
Sverrir Gudnason plays the cool, stoic Borg whilst Shia LaBeouf is the hot-headed, loud McEnroe and Stellan Skarsgård makes an appearance in a Swedish film for the first time in more than a decade as Borg's legendary trainer Lennart Bergelin. Their 14-match rivalry became known as 'fire and ice', and it comes to a thrilling high point on 5 July 1980, the day they marched onto Wimbledon's Centre Court to play what is widely considered to be the finest tennis final of all time.
A great character study as well as a great sports film, this film will thrill you whether you're a tennis fan or not (plus it might inspire you to get some retro sweatbands and polo shirts!).
