Edgy, experimental and proudly anarchic, Japanese Girls Never Die is a stirring protest against misogyny in contemporary Japan.

It centres on the disappearance of a woman, a void left when 27-year-old unmarried Haruko, stuck in a no-prospect job, living with her parents, and hopelessly in unrequited love with her neighbour, goes missing. Enigmatic graffiti based on her missing person poster suddenly appears all around town (the result of two self-declared artists) and a mysterious gang of giggling schoolgirls brings terror to the streets when they start savagely assaulting random men.

This is a unique, vibrant mix of protest against the oppression of women, provocative pop-art manifesto, and a strangely moving story about all missing women.
